12-Bar Talk: A Blues Podcast
Dr. Chelsea June Adams stumbled upon blues dancing while learning to social dance in college, and she fell in love and made it her social as well as academic focus. She earned her doctorate in English with a focus on blues and black social dances, and has taught at some of the nation’s largest blues dance events. In the before-times, she lectured at Northwestern and many conferences around the nation.
Her goal is for students to walk away with a better historical and contextual understanding of the black social dances she teaches. In each class, she wants to help you approach dancing to live music with love and enthusiasm for the connection to the music, space, and others in the room. She’s always teaching with the hopes that she’ll have more lifelong dance partners! A true introvert, when she’s not dancing, you’ll probably find her alone exploring in the mountains, baking, crafting, or reading while hanging out with her two cats.
